Weekly Photo Challenge… All Time Favourites: Sunlight & Water

This is the first (and unfortunately last) time that I’ve participated in the Daily Post’s ‘Weekly Photo Challenge’. I’ve been going through the many photos which I’ve taken of the amazing places that I’ve visited to try and find not only my ‘all time favourite’ photos, but those which represent my favourite memories.

Two of my favourite things are sunsets and the ocean. There’s something about being by the sea which makes me feel truly peaceful and I always try to incorporate some time by the coast when planning a trip. I’ve also planned many a day around being in the right place at the right time to catch a fabulous sunset (including my wedding day)!

However, it’s not very often that I get to see a beautiful sunrise. During a recent holiday to Antigua, my husband managed to persuade me to go on an early morning run along the beach. Getting up at 5am while on holiday isn’t something that I usually do, but I was so glad that I did when I got to see this stunning sunrise. I’ve chosen to share this photo as it’s a rare (the only) photo which I have of a sunrise, and it captures the beauty and peacefulness of Antigua, which continues long after the sun has risen.

The second photo that I’ve chosen is of Tenaya Lake, in Yosemite National Park. Although not the ocean, Tenaya Lake was one of the most calm, serene places that I’ve ever been.

img_0008I’ve already posted this photo fairly recently as I’ve been re-capping a three week road-trip around California, which my husband and I did for our honeymoon. I spent two nights in Yosemite National Park as part of this trip and was constantly in awe of the stunning scenery throughout the park. This photo is taken at Tenaya Lake, located 8150 feet above sea level between Yosemite Valley and Tuolomne Meadows. This is just one of many amazing views in Yosemite, which I’ve written about in more detail here. The beauty and enormity of Yosemite National Park is truly breathtaking, and it’s somewhere which I will remember forever.
